Patiently Waiting.....

I heard back from the Department of Social Services today. Since it had been almost four weeks since we sent in our application without hearing anything, we wanted to make sure they received it. She said that they had our application. The next information session would be either the end of March or first of April, and we would receive an invitation for that once the date was set.

For those who don't know the process, nothing can begin in the foster home licensing process before we complete MAPP/GPS class (Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting/Group Preparation and Selection). This is 30 hours of training which will equip us to be able to handle the emotional needs of children in care, to administer appropriate discipline, child abuse and neglect, working with birth parents, how parenting another child will affect our family, and to understand the types of children who are placed in foster care. (Fortunately, the training is FREE.)

So, right now, we just wait. We are used to being movers and shakers, so now we have to tap into the spiritual gift of patience at this time! Fortunatley, we are very involved with our Southbrook youth group which we LOVE so that keeps us busy.

Thank you for your words of encouragement and prayers!
